AN EXPOSURE OF A SOLO VOICE
Note: The site is under construction
As a professional classically trained singer and a voice artist based in Reykjavik, Anna Jonsdottir is always looking for the next opportunity to translate life experiences into art. Since 2000, music has led her to different places in time and space. Anna is constantly looking for new approaches to her music making and is looking forward to further adventures in experimental directions of life.

Anna the musician
Anna Jónsdóttir is an Icelandic singer and artist who works at the intersection of traditional music, vocal art, and creative performance. Over the years, she has developed a unique voice as a performer through diverse projects in Iceland and abroad, where the voice acts as a creative force – an independent sonic entity engaging with space, nature, and text. Her performances frequently take place in unconventional venues where the natural environment becomes an integral part of the artistic experience.
Anna has premiered numerous works by Icelandic and international composers and has appeared at various international festivals. She has released albums based on Icelandic folk songs and her own interpretations, characterized by improvisational techniques, experimental vocal methods, and poetic approaches.
With a solid foundation in classical singing and extensive experience as an independent artist, Anna works both solo and in collaboration with other artists. Her work combines music, movement, visual thinking, and vocal creation, emphasizing a personal and sincere artistic expression where vocal nuance and emotional connection play a central role.

Anna the poet
Anna Jónsdóttir has been writing poetry since her teenage years, cultivating a quiet but steady relationship with language and inner reflection. What began as a personal practice gradually became an essential part of her artistic identity. Her poetry grows from lived experience, emotional landscapes, and a deep sensitivity to sound, rhythm, and silence.Rooted in a performer’s awareness of voice and presence, her poems often carry a strong sonic quality — shaped by breath, tone, and the physicality of spoken word. In recent years, poetry has increasingly become part of her artistic expression in performance, naturally intertwining with her work as a vocalist. For Anna, text is not only written — it is embodied, heard, and felt. Her work explores themes of memory, feelings, nature, vulnerability, transformation, and the subtle space between thought and emotion. Though her poetry has largely remained private, it represents years of devotion to language as both refuge and revelation.
